Article: Edsel Ford House Holiday Tour

January 3, 2019

On Dec. 29, 2018, members of GMC Corvette Set toured the Edsel Ford Mansion in Grosse Pointe, MI. The house was decorated for Christmas in the same manner as it would have been decorated while the Ford family lived there. Albert Kahn designed the mansion, at the request of the Fords, to make it look like the Cotswold cottages in England. Construction of the building began in 1926 and the interior was finished in 1929. The tour guide pointed out many of the elaborate design elements of the house and discussed family life prior to internet, television, and cell phones.

After the tour, the group went to Fishbone's Rhythm Kitchen Cafe and enjoyed great food, drink, and conversation. This was a fitting end to a great afternoon.

Note: There are no pictures of the interior of the house as photography was not allowed on the tour.
